Preserving and Refining a Historic Gem

This historic beauty in downtown Essex is one of Main Street’s grandest homes. The owners are meticulously restoring this home to its original grandeur. We have repaired antique millwork and, in some places, made exacting reproductions. We restored the original leaded-glass windows, repaired and replaced the cedar shake roof, restored the front entryway, and built a 50-foot stone wall using old masonry techniques. We carefully designed an addition to preserve and feature what is said to be Connecticut’s oldest cherry tree.

And the transformation continues.
